I don’t know how that process works. If it requires special code / support from the board software, then the answer is likely to be “no” in that case.

It may require the Board Admin to enable something. For example if you were to search the actual developers of phpBB’s forum you could bookmark the following
http://www.phpbb.com/community/search.php?keywords=%s
doesn’t work here however. Pity. It would make searching the forum a lot easier/quicker.

So you want to be able to enter search keywords on the URL? There’s nothing in the software to support that, so there’s nothing to “enable” at this time. I would not call that a Firefox search as any browser can send that sort of URL.
The search process right now is driven by POST rather than GET, which is why you don’t see keywords listed on the URL when you submit. I’m not sure what sort of security issues might arise by opening the form up to GET submission, but I’ll put it on the list.
