Filtering a Full Client report in Infoview

Hello All,

I have built a global filter in one of my reports. Now is it possible for me to filter the results in infoview with out the ZABO.

Please let me know if this is possible.

Thanks and Regards!

The filter you built will still be active. It is NOT possible to interact with the filter at all via InfoView.

Thanks.

I was wondering if there was a way to get some kind of link between a “prompt” and the “filter” so that the prompt does the filtering (Acts like a filter) of the data that is already existing in the report, instead of making a trip to the database each time.

Thanks and Regards!

Now, I need some help with a Global Filter vs. Webi!

In a report sectioned by location, we added a global filter to hide the locations that each user is not allowed to see. The filter is based on a Data Provider that returns the User Names and allowed locations. We created a Flag variable that returns 1 where = CurrentUser(). We then applied a Global Filter on location where =1. The filter works fine in Full client. :+1:

However, when viewed in Webi, the filter only works for hiding sections, but not showing sections. For example, if User1 is allowed to see 7 locations, and is the first to open the document, they will only see 7 locations. Then, if User2 is allowed to see 10 locations, and is the second person to open the document, they will see the 7 locations that User1 could see until they refresh the document.

Note that this seems to be specific to Viewer option. If User1 is using Enhanced Document Format, subsequent users will only be affected if they also use Enhanced Document Format. The same is true for PDF and HTML viewer options. :wah:

This has always been the case. I did a demo like this at user group meetings a while ago.

The problem is that reports don’t recalc whenever they are opened. The report is cached in the docs directory. The cache is built for each type of viewer as it’s used. So, only the first user of each type get’s the right answer. This is done to improve performance. BO only has to render the report once and then presents it faster for all subsequent users. What we need is an option when a report is published to not use the cached version.

The reality, sad as it is, is that you have to refresh a report in order to apply the sort of security you are talking about. Or… You can use BCA Publisher to do this.

Actually, there is an option in the Administrator tool to turn off Corporate Document caching, but it doesn’t seen to work.
