*File Error in report,Unable to retrieve data from database*

Hello Folks,
I have very weird problem. We have few reports in Crystal Reports 8.5 which are created using Sql Server 6.5 and are trying to migrate them to Crystal XI.
We have migrated the reports to Crystal reports XI by opening and saving them in XI version. The problem here is we have uploaded all the reports to CMC and somehow when i tried to run the reports for the first time in CMC some of the reports are Failed in the History Tab with the following error File Error in the report,Unable to retrieve data from the database.

I believe that i gave all the correct credentials for the database such as database user id and password in the in the other tab.

My question is will there be any restriction or any kind of compatibility issues if we start trying to migrate the reports from Crystal 8.5 to crystal XI. Please throw some light on this.

Hi Nav,

If you are using native connection in CR 8.5 then convert the report to an ODBC connection in Crystal Reports 8.5 and then migrate to Crystal Reports XI.

Hey man, Thanks for the prompt reply. The scenario is different in my case, we actually were using odbc for creating reports in crystal 8.5. And somehow the data populated by the sql is manually edited. Does this anyway be a restriction when migrating from 8.5 to Crystal reports XI. Ideally the report runs in Crystal reports XI locally but when i try to run the report in CMC its not succeeding. Is there any chance that we can recreate the reports in Crystal reports XI using shortcut way. can anyone throw some light on this?
