Expiring Passwords

A user received the message “Password Expired” when logging into Business Objects. This is strange since the userid is set up with the “No Password Checking” option in the repository. I didn’t see the message but the user insists that he received this message and had to change his password to get into BO. The user thinks this may be a “Y2K bug” in BO since it happened today (Jan. 5) and it’s the first time in the new year that this user has logged in to BO.
Has anyone ever come across a password expiring when the “No Password Checking” option was set?

Thank you.

Judith,

According to the Help file, No Password Checking allows the security level of the database to be used, rather than having BO check the security level. So you might want to check the users security level at the database.

Judith,

How do you have the connection set up for Business Objects to connect to your database? Do you have 1 id that all Business Objects users share or each BO user id has an id set up to connect to the database?

We have it set up that all of our BO user id’s use one id to connect to the database (The users never see this 2nd id and password to the database and is set up in Supervisor-TOOLS-Connection, chose the connection you use and double click to view the username that is set.) The DBA’s have set the password to the database to expire every 90 days. If the password is not changed within those 90 days then a screen will appear asking whoever logs in to enter a new password (which is for the connection to the database).
