Excelsius Dashboard Crashing Webi Processing server

Hello all,

Need some help on the issue we are facing with running dashboard from Infoview .
we are on
xi3.1 sp2
QAAWS
Excelsius 2008

We have this Excelsius dashboard built out using QAAWS , we have four prompts in this dashboard .When trying to select each prompt in order it runs fine .When the same prompts are selected randomly and quickly or if five users are trying to run the dashboard wtih prompts)

we are getting the following errors could not initilaize report engine RWI00226
server cannot be reached

and this causes the webi processing server to shut down and then restart itself .

Are there any settings to be made for Webi processing server

the QAAWS session.timeout is set to default -60 secs.
Universe has bo restrictions
Please give some advice

Just an idea:
Look at SP3 for SAP BusinessObjects 3.1, in particular the new Xcelsius servers, which are actually QaaWS caching servers.

Thanks for the information.

can you please inform is this supposed not to work without those servers in place in SP3
these are the two servers you are mentioning i assume
xcelcius cache server
and processing server

This is a pain in the ass… I encountered this before and it will really give you a headache. As a workaround, I put additional Webi servers. It’s not a clean solution, but somewhat worked for me.

Hello RA,

Thanks for the message : we have even tried to add up Webi servers
but still the same issue if increse the number of concurrent users doing the same thing it would take down webi servers

can you tell me are there any other settings to be changed

Ouch! I thought so…

This has always been a problem when using SAP BW as data source. This has something to do with SAP BW - BOBJ communication. Normally, the webi service restarts itself when it reaches it’s memory limit, but when using SAP BW it’s doesn’t function well.

I haven’t found or heard of a “solution” for this problem. Even upgrading to SP3 is not an assurance that this will be resolved. You can try looking at FP 3.3 documentation and see if this is resolved.

Hi,

Were you able to find the root cause of this issue ? I am having the same problem but it is not consistent… We are using SAP BW and SQL server as the data source, i see it more often when the dashboard runs on SQL server DB. Not able to find which dashboard is crashing Webi servers, we have 4 webi processing servers on each node…

we are on BO XI 3.1 SP3, Xcelsius 2008.
