EXCEL BUSY ERROR MESSAGE

Good Evening All,

I have been running Crystal Xcelcius Professional for a number of years with no significant problems.

I have just downloaded the latest trial version to my laptop for business evaluation with Microsoft Office 2007 running on Windows XP SP3.

Each time I start the Xcelcius application the error message excel is busy appears and refuses to clear eventually crashing my laptop.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any advice on where I can find a fix for it :?:

Regards.

This type of message (Excel is Busy) is generally associated with a process conflicts with the communication between Xcelsius and Excel (Office Automation), which is actually not an Xcelsius error. This is typically caused by having an Excel add-in enabled. Certain types of add-ins will operate in the background which can disturb the Automation between the two applications.

Another reason might be have you upgraded from office 2003 to office 2007.When you did that, you should reinstall xcelsius again on 2007, so that it would be compatible.And below might be some of these possible reasons from my research…

The common reasons for the issue.

ü Add-ins -> Disable it.

ü Macros -> Remove it, not supported.

ü Norton Antivirus 2002 -> Upgrade to greater version.

ü Excel files open -> Close them.

ü Diff. versions of MS office installed -> only one version of office needed.

ü Files made in diff. version -> Use same version files.

ü Also tried Un-installing & re-installing MS Office & CX.

û Anti-SpyWare -> Stop real time monitoring function of it…

û Improper registered .dll files in windows -> un-install & re-install Windows.

This is regarding the Xcelcius Server busy error that I was getting. Everytime I tried importing an Excel document in Xcelcius, it gave me a message of “Server Busy” with options of Switch To and Retry. None of these worked. I got a way to workaround this, which is as follows:

  1. Press Contrl+Alt+Del (Task Manager)
    2)On the Applications Tab, there would be an Application named Microsoft Compatability Checker. Right click on that application
  2. Click “Switch To” in the drop down
  3. You will get a pop-up, saying “Significant loss of functionality”
  4. Click on Continue
  5. Click on Retry again, you will get the excel imported

Enjoi!!!

This error message pops up when there are typically 2 excel instances having a conflict. Solution for resolving this by going to task manager and killing one excel process.
