How about some basic information, what version are you using?
PS don’t shout :)!

You need the Rich client in order to do this. You cannot do it in WebI alone.

you can use EXCEL by using it as your universe source then you can use that for making a report in webi

Hi!
Yes! you can use Excell as your source on webi.
You can use the ODBC to create connection on your Excell File.
Thanks!

OK, let me clarify a few things…
3.1 - You can use Excel as a personal, localised source for Webi Rich Client.
If you wish to have this available, as refreshable, on Infoview you would go the universe route.
3.1 SP2 - You are supposed to be able to use Excel sheets, other personal Dps within webi, at least thats what it says in the whats new for 3.1 SP2 document.
However, I haven’t read anyone that has managed to acheive refreshable dps from within Infoview and I haven’t tried it, myself :? .

Mez, are you talking about XI R2?

Mak 1…
The “what’s new in SP2” document talks about PDP’s using WEBI in Infoview, but the two words “API exposition” mean that you have to use SDK code to make it possible. It’s not out of the box. I also read the document and assumed it was possible until I re-read it and saw API.
Our BO account manager has confirmed it’s an SDK job.

Rich,
Thanks for this…:). I had read others bitter experiences, but had not had a chance to test yet.
Typical lack of clarity in the BO documentation…
