ERROR - ... Syntax error in program SAPLZAW0

DI Transports installed into SBX instance successfully.
New Data Store created for SBX (have tried a number of variations of advanced options).
When opening the Data Store and selecting ‘External Metadata’, the following error message displays. System Environment info listed below.

"Error: RFC CallReceive error <Function Z_AW_RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN: RFC_ABAP_RUNTIME_FAILURE-(Exception_Key: SYNTAX_ERROR)- Syntax error in program SAPLZAW0 .[SAP NWRFC 711][SAP Partner 700][SBX][%appserver%][user][4102]>.(BODI-1112368).

Executing the transaction in SE37 returns the error below:

The current ABAP program “Z_AW_RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN=FT” had to be
terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.

The following syntax error occurred in program "SAPLZAW0 " in include "SAPLZAW0

“The program “SAPLZAW0” is not Unicode-compatible, according to its pro”

FWIW, I copied the source code from the source code window in SE37 and it does not match either of the two .txt files provided for manual transport (Data Services\admin\R3_Functions\ManualInstall - z_aw_rfc_abap_install_and_run.txt or z_aw_rfc_abap_install_and_run60.txt).

Update:
Resolved the above issue.

Edited the function group (ZAW0) - checked the ‘unicode’ box.
Activated function group and program. I am now able to pull metadata.

Having issues reading extractors, but I believe this is a separate issue with the transport.

There is a SAP Note with newer/fixed transport files. THe transport files provided in BODS 4.0 SP1 or even SP2 are not correct.
