Hello, well I have the same problem, but I identified in the mcafie log is blocking all my requests to the smtp server.

Did you solve this?

Adding java.exe, jobserverchild.exe in mcafee email filter options will resolve the issue.

did you check if the telnet services could send mails? Maybe you could check if the port 25 it is the correct port.

go to the command line and input “telnet mailman.domain.com 25” and you should get any answer from the server.

Not Sure Either SMTP setup is done or not. Your server Name/Ip to be added to your SMTP server RELAY
then as per your requirement of server do thr Job Server Configuration (i…e Webi Job Server, Crystal Job Servers, Destination Job server etc)
And now TEST, it will work

Did anybody find a solid solution to this problem?

I’m also trying to schedule a document to send an email but get the following error message:

server error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error initializing SMTP server. Return code: [TCP send failed.]. Reason: [KOOLYWBI001:25].]

For information, I’m running BO Edge 3.1

Any help/insights greatly appreciated!

Your TCP/IP port seems to have some issues due to which its giving you error. Check with your Server Admin Team , they might be able to help you…
Make sure TCP/IP port is open

Check parameters in DestinationJobServer and add at VirusScan Console of McAfee (if required) the exceptions commented above (I added java.exe, jobserverchild.exe, JobServerChild.exe). In my case y added the exception on the Access Protection service (of McAfee VirusScan Console) at the rule “avoid worms (…)”.

Hope it helps, it worked for me,

Thank you all comments above

I had a similar issue yesterday and was not able to schedule a report and have it email out to anyone and today and was getting this error:

server error. [Error initializing SMTP server. Return code: [TCP open failed.]. Reason: [host name].]: [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]

Turns out it was as simple as the Host Name under the Adaptive Job Server/Destinations/Email was not up to date. Once we upated it with the correct name, restarted that service only, everything was working fine.

Just wanted to put this out there for other people  Thanks.

You should essentially add SMTP setting to Adaptive Job Server and Destination Job Server. Also restart both servers

I solved this problem by entering the fully qualified smtp server name in the host text box and leaving the domain name empty. e.g. mysmtpserver.domain.xx

(The IP address is an alternative)

I could not get it to work when I entered the domain name in the domain name field
