Hi,
I am having difficulties with resolving the (IES 10901) (WIS 10901) error in the Web Intelligence Rich Client.
It should be a ‘local’ issue however until now I am unable to resolve it.
Within the company we are having multiple BO universes and the client allows me to access, update the reports and will allow me to preview or refresh. The databases linked to the universes are stored on an internal SQL server. I an also perform al these actions from the client installed on my laptop.
However we have one database which is stored with an external party (there is a VPN connection between one of our servers and the external party) which gives issues.
It is possible from the client to see which objects there are in the universe and select them. However when refreshing, it will take a while and give the following error:
Database error: [Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0] : TCP Provider: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
. (IES 10901) (WIS 10901)
The details show the following error:
com.businessobjects.sdk.core.server.CommunicationException$UnexpectedServerException: Database error: [Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0] : TCP Provider: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

However a colleague which has the web rich client also installed, is able to access the data without any issues. We both logged in as the same user and as far as we can see, we have the same permissions in the Active Directory.
I do need to note that I installed the 51041019_Client_SP02 and 20007508_Client_SP02P15 since I recently got all the BO related tasks assigned to me. Besides the one colleague, there are no colleagues available to ask.
We also have a Business Objects 4 clients SP10 available however this did not solve any issues.
I tried to the options with the SP10 as well as without (SP02 and SP02P15 were both installed), removed everything and started over again but with no result.
I also went through the web and found related issues (the 10901 code is not of much help either), but no luck so far.

And I went through BOB however I could not find the solution (sorry if i overlooked).
Since my former colleague is able to access the data, it looks to me that it is a local issue. Did someone else encounter this issue as well or has an idea where to look?
I also have issues with the universe design tool, for all the universes, it is not an issue to make adjustments and saving them, besides the one related to the external party. This will result in a ‘corrupted’ universe. But to me it looks related, since parsing will also result in an error, related to this issue.
I am using:
Web Intelligence Rich Client V 14.0.2
Build: 682
Can anyone help me out? If you need additional information, please let me know.
