Enable Real Time User Rights Update

Hi to all!

In User>Properties tab Definition are checkbox “Enable Real Time User Rights Update”.
I don’t quite understand meaning of that checkbox. Can enyone explain it to me?

I thought that was “Enable Offline Login”.

I would imagine that “Enable Real Time User Rights Update” means that any changes to user priveliges become apparent to the user almost immediately - as oppsed to next login. Although this is what it says in the help file - “Causes the list of resources (in particular, universes) to be displayed dynamically in real time”.

It means that any updates on users access rights done will affect user even if he
is logon to Business Objects. If this check box is not checked, the access rights will
be applicable when the user logon to BO next time.

You are referring to the Enable Offline Login check-box.

Enable Real Time User Rights Update means that the user can display the list of available universes (for them) in real-time from within the user module.

Pauls definition of this is correct. Please refer to pg 113 of the Supervisor Guide on the cd.

So there is no way that user profiles can be updated in real time? :frowning: Only the reports and universes are updated in real time.

User Profiles are updated real-time… it’s typically access or restrictions to universes and documents. If you disable their login, it will not kick them out of the product. That’s the only other option I can think that you’d want.

This change does not affect any active sessions (with regards to whether or not an individual can be logged in).

When I Use a Stored Procedure in a report,the function of the Store Procedure is run a query and insert it into a temporary table, after the excution of the sp, I add a new table query in the report, in the webi, if
a user defined a real time security, he will get the result of the query(the second request in a session) , if a user is not defined a real time security, he will get a black page, just run the store precedure, and disconnect the session( which means you will lost the content of the temporary table) and then reconnect , do the second query, so got a blank page.

So I think the real time security is allow the user to use the current session for another request,very useful for the SP plus Universe implement.
