EIM AdaptiveProcessingServer Running with Errors

Hi ,

I have installed DS & IS in my system . I have seen in the server status in the Central Configure Manager as EIM Adaptive Processing Server running with Errors. I have checked in the CMC it is showing like

Data Cleansing Advisor Service
The service did not start
This service has no configuration property.

Information Steward Administrative Task Service
Use Configuration Template
Task Services Configuration
Concurrent Thread Instances:
Thread process timeout (minutes):
Log Level: FINEST FINER FINE CONFIG INFO WARNING SEVERE

Restore System Defaults
Set Configuration Template

Cleansing Package Builder Publishing Service
This service has no configuration property.

Cleansing Package Builder Core Service
This service has no configuration property.

How to configure these values.

I am experiencing the same issue with:

SAP IPS 4.1 SP3
SAP DS 4.2 SP1 Patch 3
SAP IS 4.2 SP1 Patch 3

We have just installed a new server for DS/IS and this issue came up - I have not seen this before with DS/IS 4.1.

I’ve checked the installation logs and I cannot find any errors. The AddNode.bat segment (which is the number 1 cause of failures) was executed correctly without any errors - according to the setup engine log.

Does anyone know how to correct this issue?

If so, then you need to find which service is the faulty one. Create new EIM Adaptive processing server by adding one service, then check the status, then add another.
One thing is what SAP states in the note, another is reality, i’m having the same issue, but everything works fine. I’ve sent this error to SAP, but have not seen any reaction from them since then.

You may want to refer to my other post here in the IS forum which exactly describes my problem: IS not installing Data Cleansing Advisor database!

The EIM APS issue is caused by the Data Cleansing Advisor (DCA) Service. (If you select properties on the EIM APS, the DCA Service will be listed in red.) If I remove the DCA service from the EIM APS, everything is fine and the EIM APS returns to a “Running” state.

Further investigations revealed that the cause of the DCA Service malfunction is that no DCA database was created in the …\BusinessObjects XI 4.0\Data\DCA-SA\Data directory. It should have a DCA database and log file as it does on all other systems I have deployed IS 4.2 Sp1 on.

I would be stunned if IPS 4.1 SP3 was the culprit of this issue - as the compatibility matrix note clearly states that these versions are compatible. Then again nothing is impossible of course. But what puzzles me is that if it was an IPS compatibility issue, I would expect IS to crash when trying to run the DCA through the IS interface - or perhaps throw some obscure Java exception. But not installing/creating the DCA database would seem like an issue with the installer software instead?
