Editing/Maintaining existing Dashboard

We have recently implemented Business Objects. A consultant built a very complex dashboard using many features and several queries that run through QAAWS. The original xlf file is located in a folder on the enterprise, and the published swf is there also. Both are accessible via infoview. The consultant was rolled off b/f all the bugs were worked out, and now I need to go back and tweak the dashboard. If I import the xlf file from the enterprise, and export using Business Objects platform w/o even making any changes, I get a 1 item missing message, and while the swf is created in the infoview folder, the dashboard never loads. All of the queries remain idle. How do you manage these files and edit and republish to infoview and maintain functionality?

Hi,

The ideal thing would’ve been to have the consultant provide some documentation regarding the model such as web service names, objects names. The hope is that this consultant at least laid out the Excel sheet so that it is easy to read.

If not, then I advise you either hire a new consultant who is experienced and can decipher the model, or start to tap into online blogs and resources to learn the software and then apply it to your model.

In either case:

  1. Create a full scale documentation
  2. Work on fixing the Excel sheet layout so that its easy

When dealing with QaaWS because its Enterprise there are a number of things that can go wrong, hence its hard to track down your problem with the provided info.
