I have just got access to login online to BusinessObject’s 65.010.00000.1011 InfoView 65.010.00000.1011 where i can view a host of preconfigured reports of two types - Business Objects Documents and WebIntelligence.
When I run these and save them into my Personal Documents I hoped to be able to edit the query behind the reports to recreate them. However there is no ‘Edit’ option in the top left of the screen after the report is run. I also cannot find a way of creating new reports from scratch.
When my boss runs these reports and copies them to Personal Docs she gets an ‘Edit’ option where she can then change the field, query etc.
Is this a permissions issue on my account and what setting needs changed to allow my userid to create and especially edit existing reports?
It looks as the permission problem. If you use BO 6.5 version then the setting is done in the BO tool called Supervisor. Do you have an access to Supervisor? If not you need to ask your BO admin to give you the necessary rights to you.
At the moment I just have a web access and have not installed anything on the PC - do I need to? I have got a Business Objects 6.5 disk but no access details for a datasource.
What would the necesary rights be for this access and are you able to provide some steps as to how the admin would change them? Would help me go back to them with clear instructions!
You can install BO desktop products on your machine. Desktop products are:
BO Full Client (aka DeskI) - where you build DeskI reports
BO Designer - where you build BO universes
BO Supervisor - where you set the access rights
Your BO admin needs to give you (your BO account) rights to use any of the above tools. So talk to your BO admin first.
I have spoken about this but they are unsure what to do to provide the access I need to edit/create reports. Surely there is a permission/setting they need to setup at their end to allow me to edit reports using just web access? I dont see why I even need to install Business Objects on my PC.
Can you hazard a guess as to what they need to change in their admin setup to allow my username access to edit existing reports on the web version and to create new reports? It would help me go back to them as I dont think they know!
BO admin needs to check in Supervisor the command restrictions applied on your BO account for Webintelligence application.
In Supervisor, highlight a BO account, then in the left pane go to tab Configuration and right-click Webintelligence, select Properties. Here go to Query And Web Panel category and check which of these settings are enabled/disabled for the BO account.
I am actually not sure whether I have WEBI or just INFOVIEW at the moment! Is your suggestion assuming I have WEBI access? How do I know which one I have once logged in?
Can you send me a screenshot of that the category you mean and suggest which settings should be enabled/disabled?
