Easter Eggs in Business Objects Product?

I have noticed in webi install files some pictures of developpers (I think) called photo.jpg, photo2.jpg, etc.

Does anyone know if there are some more easter eggs (like flipper in word 97, doom like in excel 95 or credit lists) in Business Objects products and how to make appear it?

Thank you for advance

I loved that one in Excel 95. I used to play that all the time. But I haven’t heard of any in Business Objects. But now you got my curiosity up. :blue:

Are you sure about this? The App Foundation Demo has some photo.jpg files, but the standard WebI install doesn’t

Look at the first CD, Vol 1, Disk 2. In there you’ll find 5 jpegs:

Photo.jpg
Photo1.jpg
Photo2.jpg
Photo3.jpg
Photo4.jpg

I can’t tell what Photo2 is supposed to be, but the other four are pictures of people, including one of a baby, and another of a man holding a baby.

OK, I get it. I thought it was on the installation. The files you mentioned don’t get copied to the installed stuff.

Yes, I Had found this photo but It’s a very poor easter egg indeed! As you said, I don’t know what photo2 is supposed to be ;-))

No more eggs in about box for example? what a pity!!

in 5.0.x release, when they was a crash (display with bug on the top left corner, they was displayed the originals cpp files of the program which where stored in a ā€œMarionā€ directory. ā€œMarionā€ was the code name of the R5 like ā€œToscaā€ is the code name of E6

Icon of bug was stored in bodmp50.dll file which store alternate bug icon…

that’s all folk fun I found on the subjects…

Goverment contracts usually have some disclaimer in them about ā€œNo undocumented software functionalityā€ … i.e., no easter-eggs allowed

yes, it’s the reason why windows XP product no more have eggs. Do you really thinks it’s the reason why bo products don’t have one?

I think the photos are part of an application - I found it by accident, some kind of sample organizational chart - those are the fictional employees…

or maybe that’s just how it got snuck in, I think I prefer the easter egg idea.

I think you are right…

these photo are 71*95. A very precise size…

And in webi, you have the possibility, in option page, to choose a picture to display in the top left corner of webi menu. And a message say that picture selected will ne resized to 70x95…

So I think that the pictures are samples given to illustrate these customizing.

these picture are also mentionned in the helpfile

So it’s not an eggs… Sorry… Keep searching

Hey Bernard that’s a good thing to share  thanks

How did you discover this!

OK - here’s what I have…

I stumbled into comments by one developer making fun of another (ā€œJohn Smith is a bit of an arseā€ or something along those lines) tucked away in the properties of one of the Auditor reports (XI R2 I think)…

Not really an easter egg at all, but years back in some BOBJ training material there was a sample table that was the track listing from an Ipod. There were some awesomely vulgar / crass song titles in the table, which was good for a chuckle.

Interesting indeed.

Also ā€œMAJā€ is the SHIFT key.

I’ve attached a screen shot of this tomfoolery ;>
