I’m getting what I think is DSN error when playing with Design Studio. My universe is fine - which uses my local DSN.
But when I try to create a data connection in Design Studio, I’m seeing no data. So I tried a webi report over that universe - and got an error, which is what I’d expect with no DSN on the webi server.
Am I right? Does Design Studio need a DSN on the server? As a client product, I was expecting it to use my local DSN.

Design Studio doesn`t work with local data sources, apart from CSV (which still needs metadata!) as far as I was aware. I thought to get data out of a Universe you needed the integration kit installed on the BI server and a UNX universe. I was also fiddling last week and thats what I used…

It isn’t a local data source. It’s a database on a server. IDT designer uses a local DSN (which works fine) and webi uses a server DSN (which isn’t there right now - working on that bit).
I was expecting Dashboard Design Studio - as a full-client product - to use my local DSN. But it doesn’t - or at least something doesn’t work as I can’t get it to talk to this database.

ETA: Set up a server DSN and eventually got it connecting after a lot of hassle. Couldn’t get Design Studio to work with a NT authentication DSN at all. Once I set the DSN to a named user, it was fine.

Webi can use a local DSN if it`s used in 2-tier mode btw.

Yep. Was just using webi to test connectivity to try to figure out why DDS wasn’t working! All sorted now anyway - not using windows authentication but doesn’t matter for the moment as I’m only developing.
