We don’t have any crystal reports in our environment and planning to disable /stop all the servers related to crystal reports. I am sure that by disabling these servers should not have any problems and will free-up the some memory and I/O process on the server.
Environment : BOE XI 3.0 on Windows 2003 SP1
i.e Crystal Reports Cache Server
Crystal Reports Processing Server
Job Server (Crystal Reports Job server)
Job Server (List of values Job server)
Reports Application Server
Just, curious to know by doing this anybody has any issues?
This should be no problem - but be aware that disabling a server does not stop it, ie. does not free up resources it merely does not get any new requests from the CMS. You need to disable them and stop them as well.
Hi BOAdministrator, Sorry to disagree but the Report Application Server (RAS) is only used for Crystal Reports and not by Deski, Webi or anything else.
Simple to try out if you’re worried: stop the RAS server and see if this affects any non-Crystal Reports. I can guarantee you that it won’t.
RAS is used only for crystal reports only. We can disable this server /stop even delete the server completely from the CMC if we don’t have any crystal reports in the implementation.
