Disable hyperlinks and publication for everyone

Hello,

I’m dealing with the security in our BO XI R3 system. I’m managing rights for users from the lowest group “everyone”.
The problem is that in their folder (My favorite) they can create the following things : New Webi report, new folder, new hyperlink, new publication. ok for the report and folder but I don’t want the 2 last items to be accessible. I’ve forbidden scheduling report so they can’t do a publication but I don’t want the icon to be accesssible.

I look everywhere in the CMC but I can’t find where we can disable hyperlinks and publication. Could you help me?

Hi,

I don’t think this can be done through rights/CMC settings.

Like in Xir2 you probably need to modify the infoview pages themselves…

This can be done.

For public folders , set rights on the folder and choose Content>>Publication and deny the right “Add objects to the folder”

you can do the same for the personnal folders by applying the same rights on users folder

Hi,

I don’t find “Publication” in the content section. Am I missing something? I am using BOXI 3.0.

Thanks,

In XI R2 you could edit the file
WEB-INF\classes\META-INF\CrystalEnterprise.Webapps\ePortfolio\config.xml
found in the desktop.war file to remove items from the InfoView menu. There might be a similar file in R3.

Thanks for your insight JWhite9. But do I have to go to XML file level to make that change? Shouldn’t it goven via CMC?

Thanks,

I don’t have R3 installed to look at the privileges available but in R2 it was the only way.

Here are the steps

  • Click personal inbox from the home section
  • Click User security & add principal(specific user)
  • Assign him view access

That’s it

rit372002 : I look for this file and didn’t find anything. If you find, tell me!

for the access right follow what msb said . If you want to be more precise choose Advanced rights and choose Add/delete righs then you can choose
Content>>Publication as I said

Was anyone able to find the appropriate xml file to edit in R3?

No need to change a xml file to change rights on this application. This can be changed from the CMC.

Does anyone have screen shots or a thorough step-by-step, because I am completely missing these options in the CMC.

Does it work for you ?

The only item I find that has a “Add objects to the folder” is Content>>General.

Which version of BO are using. My solution is correct for the BO XI 3.0 Version.

BO XI 3.1

Go to CMC
In the Folder tab, right click and Manage>>Security>>All Folders Security
For the Everyone group, Assign the Security
In the Advanced Rights, Add/Remove rights
When you unfold the “Content” Part, you can set the rights for Publication and Hyperlink, like on this capture :

Deny the right add object to folder for all those kind of objects.

Thanks so much. I was disconnecting on the Add/Remove Rights having more rights then what was showing when I didn’t have filters on assigned rights.
