Differences between xcelsius versions

Hi i’m thinking of purchasing xcelsius, but don’t know which one to buy? Can anyone give me the differences between the versions? i.e what does professional offers that standard does not. What is the difference between the workgroup edition and the professional one.

I am also thinking of buying xcelsius.

The posted link only gives the commercial answer - “AND more!” ???

After using the trail version I donot know which features are from the Standard version and which are not. That is extra in the Professional version

Can some exerienced user give me more info.

I’ve found that the difference between professional, standard, etc is unnecessarily confusing and if you ask a Bobj sales rep, they may or may not be able to fully explain the differences. Note that future releases may consolidate these options. Below is an email forwarded to me about the different versions:

Crystal Xcelsius Standard

Crystal Xcelsius Standard is a standalone desktop application which enables a business user to create visual analytics from Excel spreadsheets and to publish them as interactive Flash files within PowerPoint presentations. Crystal Xcelsius Standard does not support end-user connectivity to live data sources.

Product Capabilities

  • Crystal Xcelsius model designer with basic components and
    functionality.
  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheets as a data source.
  • Export to Microsoft PowerPoint.

Prerequisite - None

Special Rules

  • Licensed on a per named user basis for Crystal Xcelsius model
    design. For each copy purchased, one named user may install and use the designer to create Xcelsius models.

Crystal Xcelsius Professional

Crystal Xcelsius Professional provides standalone visualization requirements for those with more publication needs. It is a desktop application which enables a business user to create visual analytics from Excel spreadsheets and to publish them as interactive Flash files to Office documents, PDFs, or the web. Crystal Xcelsius Professional does not support end-user connectivity to live data sources.

Product Capabilities

  • Includes all features in Crystal Xcelsius Standard plus the
    ability to export to Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and HTML.

Prerequisite - None

Special Rules

  • Licensed on a per named user basis for Crystal Xcelsius model
    design. For each copy purchased, one named user may install and use the designer to create Xcelsius models.

Crystal Xcelsius Designer

Crystal Xcelsius Designer allows users to create “live” interactive visual analytics connected to a variety of data sources. It includes all of the interactive model design capabilities found in the Standard and Professional editions, plus the ability to create “connected” models which dynamically refresh from external data sources. Additionally, Crystal Xcelsius Designer includes integration with Microsoft SharePoint to allow end users to view and personalize Xcelsius models right from within the SharePoint portal.

Product Capabilities
Includes all features in Crystal Xcelsius Standard and Professional plus

  • Unique real-time data displays (e.g., ticker component, dynamic
    picture show visualization)
  • Ability to create dynamic refreshable Xcelsius models using XML,
    web services, and/or Live Office.
  • Advanced integration with Microsoft SharePoint.

Prerequisite - Crystal Xcelsius Workgroup, Crystal Vision Server, or Crystal Xcelsius Viewer.

All I see now are Xcelsius Engage, Xcelsius Engage Server and Xcelsius Present. Have the following versions been discontinued?
