Difference between ECC and SAP BW

Hi,
I have around more 5 years of experience working on SAP Buisiness Objects, I have just started with SAP BW. Just wanted to know what is the difference between SAP ECC and SAp BW systems?

SAP BW is an Enterprise data warehouse solution.
ECC is an OLTP system.

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your reply. While going through one of the training materials on youtube, I got to know that SAP BW is higher version or replacement for ECC as, reporting data through ECC is not very simple and thats why SAP introduced SAP BW to replace ECC with BW.
If ECC is OLTP and SAP BW is OLAP then how can BW be replaement for ECC. As in above case they will be different system all together.
I have recently got in SAP BW project where they are replacing ECC with SAP BW.
Appreciate your help on above.

ECC can never be replaced by BW.

I’d suggest you get your definitions right by checking the wiki pages…
