SAP consulted the user community and had found there’s a strong objection to changing the WebI name. Therefore, they cancelled the name change of that tool.
There was also a strong (maybe even stronger) objection to SAP dropping Deski, but they still did it anyway. There’s just no telling what SAP may or may not always do…
This is different though. DeskI has become the “odd man out” and it was the decision of Business Objects SA to sunset DeskI BEFORE they were acquired by SAP.
Prior to the SAP acquisition, I don’t think that executive decision (ie. dropping deski) was ever even close to officially being made.
Never the less, the point is that a large majority of the BO user community made it quite clear that they were very much against Deski being dropped, but the brass ignored the masses and ordered the Deski tombstone & plot anyway.
So much for fighting city hall…
