Diagonal line

Any ways to draw a diagonal line in Xcelsius 2008? Ideally an arrow (but that’s probably a bit ambitious…).

I’m trying to replicate a flow diagram and a diagonal would be so much easier than hundreds of bitty verticals and horizontals joined together!

Why not just use an image?

Otherwise, I think you’re out of luck.

An image won’t give me what I need. But I managed to fudge it and it doesn’t look too bad!

What did you end up doing? A jagged approximation?

Made the text boxes bigger and filled in. Then just did horizontal lines underneath text boxes, so one line continued right through. Couple of verticals to join them together and I’m actually surprised how good it looks. % at each level, plus a trend icon to show whether up or down from same YTD figures last year and I’ve quite impressed myself!

But then I’m easily pleased by pretty things…

You could use a basic line chart with a simple series to get the diagonal, then just hide all of the other visual effects…

Wow. That’s kind of a cool idea. Because you could even move the line based on changing selections on the dashboard that way.

Works quite nicely. I’ve also used a Radar chart to create a triangle.

Clever idea. Annoys me that there’s no basic components that do this, though. I just wanted a simple organisational tree.

Ah well. I expect my days with xcelsius are numbered anyway. Nice to create SWFs but the way the product is developing, we’ll need licences for every access through the SAP portal which will make it prohibitively expensive. It’ll be Microsoft & SharePoint all the way very soon …
