Deski closes without saying anything

Hi everyone,

I have a simple but really annoying problem : I open my deski doc, want to modify query, so I click, and… deski just closes without any explanation, no error message.

Deski XI 3.1
Document = 2 queries - 8.5 Mo
Problem with one user (it works with another user)

Can anyone help ?

Thank you

Is it on the same machine, one user account works and other doesnt?

Delete or rename the following registry node from windows registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12\default\BusinessObjects\Test User Prefs

where Test is the user for which the query panel is not responding

Thank you for your answer
Yes tests with both users are on the same machine
I tried your solution, still not working, deski closes after I click on modify query

Did you delete the above registry entry for the user having this issue?
Also try deleting or renaming this and see if it works

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12\default\BusinessObjects\Application Preferences\BusinessReporter\Desktop Intelligence

.

Yes I deleted the registry for user, and now for deski but still the same problem.
I noticed I have the same problem with this user when working on universes, designer also closes at random…

Hi,

I had a problem like this twice 2 years ago, once on a user and once on a group.

It looks like the user/group was corrupted, and the problem was solved by deleting et re-creating the user (or the group when the problem concerned the group)

Did you tried with the same user on another computer ?
if you still have the problem, just delete and recreate the user

I don’t know if the user can be deleted and recreated without any damages (admin user, created lots of documents & universes, …).

Ok, to narrow down the issue login with the same account in question on another DeskI client machine. Is it same?

I’ve seen this before when the locally stored .lsi file has become corrupt. Try deleting/renaming the lsi file.

Hi,
Xavier is correct. This happened to us before.

The cause might be the .lsi file somehow being corrupted on the user machine

Resolution :
1.Go in directory C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxx\Application Data\Business bjects\Business Objects 12.0\lsi where xxxxx is your computer login
2.Select the xxxx.lsi (xxxx being the name of the server you are connected to)
3.Rename the .lsi to .old
4.Log back in desktop Intelligence -> this will generate back the new .lsi file.

Thanks

For XIR3.1, if Deski closes with no message check the Everyone group in User Security. If it is set to No Access then that may be the cause. After a migration from XIR2 one of our users came over with No Access. Once Advanced(Inherited) rights were granted, Deski worked fine.
