Design Studio and SAP BI Platform.

I have sap bi 4.2 sp2 installed, and need to add Design Stuido (not Lumira at the moment).

I am downloading Design Studio,
and am confused about the following choices.

  1. Comprised software
    Since I have SAP BIP 4.2 SP2, i selected the following, but am not sure if it matters.
    DSBIPADDON02_1-70001267.ZIP
    SP02 for DESIGN STUDIO BIP ADD ON 1.6

DS_CLIENT02_0-70001265.EXE
SP02 for DESIGN STUDIO CLIENT 1.6

  1. Required components of other software.

DESIGN STUDIO BIP ADD-ON ALTERNATIVELY REQUIRES …/
SBOP BI PLATFORM 4.2 - ENTERPRISE SERVERS (SMP)/
SBOP BI PLATFORM SERVERS 4.2

It gives me a choice of SAP BIP (SP #, Patch #), then update 1/2, and 2/2.

Does this mean I would need to First run this Required component of other software as listed in my # 2, and then install the BIP Add-on? If so, which Service Pack? I don’t know why SAP makes these choices so confusing.

It just provides you a reference to BI Platform Installer. If you have installed BI Platform already, You dont need to Install it again.

Always Check the Design Studio PAM for the supported BIP versions

Keeping everything at the same SP level is always best practice. It’s not always strictly necessary, but you’re just inviting more problems if you don’t.
