Day Name Function implementation

I am creating a report on deski with oracle 10g environment.

I need to get the day of week ,MM/DD/CCYY through day of week ,MM/DD/CCYY through , for the dates entered by the user at the prompt .“Day of the week” are the days from Sunday Thru Saturday.

The prompt will be displayed in the report .

Any help is highly appreciated.
