Standard questions:

  1. Which exact patch level are you running? Current is SP4 with Patch 10
  2. Have you installed 32-bit or 64-bit database middleware? IDT as a 32-bit application requires… 32-bit database middleware

You didn’t answer the first question. On SP02 there was a bug whereby the connection dialogue could hang when it should have been displaying the different drivers. Maybe this is what is happening for you?

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply,

I have installed the client only on the machine…we an get the Version details only from the Server machine right?

Also My connection dialog box does not hang…only thing is i cannot see any drivers.

Thanks.

Hi,

I still have this problem, I am not able to see the ODBC middleware drivers in the Information design tool when creating a new connection. The Version of BO that i am using is

SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Client Tools SP5

OS:Windows XP Service Pack 3 32 bit.

Thanks

How can you be using IDT when you are on XI 3.x? IDT was introduced with SAPBI4…

Since IDT is a 32bit tool you require the ODBC 32bit Driver, to be found in the SYSWOW64 folder on your hard disk!

Hi,

I am sorry, the BO version is

SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.0 Client Tools SP5 update.

The issue is i can see teradata, oracle and sql server drivers in win32 odbc administrator…but there are no drivers installed in win64 odbc drivers…My issue is IDT shows blank in the Database Drivers middleware selection when trying to create a new connection

Thanks

Again, you MUST use the ODBC Manager for 32bit and create your System DSN there! The 32bit ODBC Manager can be found in the SysWOW64 folder (I know the name is counter intuitive)!

If you start ODBC Manager from Control Panel or Administrator Tools…well that is the 64bit version, which is USELess to the 32bit tool IDT!

Hi Andreas,

I have installed Oracle,SQL Server and Teradata drivers and this can be seen in the 32 bit odbc manager which is in the folder Syswow64.

Why is Information design tool not able to detect and display these 32 bit drivers. It is showing blank in “Database Drivers Middleware Selection” when trying to create a new connection

Thanks
