Database connection error randomly

Hello All

I am working on DI 3.0 version, Oracle 10g Database, Oracle 10g contains the repository. I always connect through VPN.

Every now and then I get the error ’ Connect failed because the target host or object does not exist’
I am trying to import some tables from the database and I get the attached error message.

Am I missing something. Has anybody else faced a similar issue. Could it have anything to do with me connecting to the server always on VPN.
And the point to note, is that its quiet sporadic.

Please shed any light if you have come across this situation

It’s an Oracle error so should be debugged by the Oracle people.

Hi,

For Oracle 10g have you implemented the RAC architecture, if so this problem frequently pops up. I guess you might have tried this, but connect to the repository from the machine in which the problem is there and check. If you are able to access the tables through out then no problem but if at any time the same error comes you might have to edit the Hostname file and update the ip address of the DB server because there can be a IP conflict .
