I’ll start at the start…
Does DAS reside on a PC or in the repository? We’ve had it installed here but I can’t seem to locate it.
Next problem, I can currently only use DAS in Console Mode. I’m the only user who would access DAS, and I set it running a few days ago (as Primary Agent), then when I returned to work after the weekend it wasn’t running anymore. I can no longer access it as Primary Agent. Any ideas why? Could Primary Agent still be running? If so, how do I close it?
Alternatively, can I remove the current DAS and set up a new one which I can then monitor more closely? If I simply delete the current one are there any problems I may encounter.
We use BO4.1.3, with Oracle 7.3.
Broad questions I know but I’m confused! Thanks in advance Neil

The actual DAS (basically a type of BusObj process) runs on a PC or NT server. The ‘definition’ and ‘jobs’ are held in a table in the repository. If you are looking for a physical installation then look for it on a PC or server.
then when I returned to work after the weekend it wasn’t running
anymore.
Usually caused by a) repository connection not being set to ‘disconnect after each transaction’ and/or b) database being taken down for a ‘cold’ back-up over the weekend and therefore the primary loses connection. Solution is for a) change the connection through general supervisor and recreate the BOMain.key and b) assuming there is definately no other DAS running as primary at present, you’ll need to reset the timestamp for the DAS in the repository. You can do this by updating the repository through SQL (which although not supported is documented and provided by BusObj in their documentation). Check out the ‘Document Agent Server Bible’ available via BusObj technical support web-site. Alternatively check the archives here for the SQL required.
Alternatively, can I remove the current DAS and set up a new one which I can then monitor more closely? If I simply delete the current one are there any problems I may encounter.
If you delete the current one using Supervisor you will lose all scheduled jobs against that DAS. If you only kill the current DAS process on a server and then run it as a primary elsewhere then you should be fine.
There is plenty documented here (check archives) or via Bus Obj documentation guides and via tech support that should answer all of these questions and more

Thanks for the answers, but one more question. I think I’ll delete DAS as we haven’t been using it so there’s no scheduled tasks. Can I just do this through Supervisor? I can’t locate the physical installation of DAS, so this is really my only choice.
Also, general question, how do I query the archives of this list. I can only view my mails since I joined which don’t contain everything.
Thanks again
Neil

To remove the existing DAS just go into Supervisor and find what group (starting at the ‘root’) has the DAS assigned to it (right-mouse click and properties - there should be a DAS tab on which you can set the setting to ‘No DAS’). Some of this is from memory as I’m now using V5 and BCA. By removing this the timestamps etc should clear and you will be able to create a new one and then run it on a server without your ‘primary/secondary’ issue.
Someone has already provided details of the archives.

You betcha. Just go into the properties for the group with which the DAS is associated (perhaps the topmost group in your case). On the Document Agent Server tab, simply select the No Agent radio button.
