Jonathan,
We had the same specs you have mentioned and we were able to run DocAgent w/o
any errors.
But do you really need to use DocAgent.
We used DocAgent to run reports (100 reports a night), but we are not using it
anymore as it eats up lot of memory and the only thing it gives you is a log of
all the successful and unsuccessful jobs it executed.
We got rid of DocAgent and we have been running the same report successfully.
Also the performance in terms of time used has improved.
We are running two services each with 4 maximum number of tasks. What I
heard from BusinessObjects is that each task would take 16M memory plus the
system overhead. This is the formula BusinessObjects uses to determine
memory requirements
Req. Mem. = Operating System Mem. Req. + ( Concurrent Tasks * 16MB RAM)
and The amount of required free hard drive space can be calculated as
follows: 100MB + (Largest Document Size * Number of Concurrent tasks) +
Safety Factor
Since we are in the begining stage of using DAS, the server we have seems to
adequetly service our users.
Yelak
Can you tell me how many DAS services you are running? and What is the
maximum number of tasks running per service?<
We are running DAS on a Dell 2300 Machine, with two 400MHZ processors,
512M memory and 18G hard disk drive. The machine seems to handle the load
fine so far. But, once in a while it looses its connection with the
Repository and I have to re-start the DAS service.<We are running DAS as an
NT service)<
