DAS Cannot distribute reports on server

I have BO 4.1.2 + CSP14.
I am facing a new strange ‘feature’ of the Document Agent Server : I send a simple report to it, with the simple task to distribute it via the web server. I shared a directory on the web server with options ‘full control to everyone’. But the DAS task fails with the error ‘Cannot create the specified directory (to deep)’. Well, there is nothing to create because the directory exist ! I’ve tried to copy something to that directory : no problem. I’ve also tried the option ‘distribute via the file server system’ : the error is ‘Cannot copy to the specified directory’. I’ve tried with mapped network drives letters (V:, W: etc.), with IP-addresses, etc. but always the same error occurs. I’ve tried running the DAS as an NT service or not, same error. I’ve tried with other servers where I am authorized, same problem. I’ve tried to call BO support, no answer yet. What else can I do, #@%&* ##¢¢¨ ???

We have had the same problems. A couple of suggestions/comments:

  1. Saving to a file server on the network when running DAS as a service does not work. BO is aware of this and planning a fix sometime in the future.

  2. We ran DAS under a system account on NT. The system account did not have any privileges to access other servers on the network. After we ran DAS under a different account (with appropriate privileges) we could save document on other servers.

Hi Pierott,
When you use the DAS distribute via web server option, the directory you specify to save the html pages in is actually the parent directory of potentially many subdirectories. Try this test: use the Reporter module to create the same html pages on your local pc and see how many directory levels are created from the parent directory you choose. Then check to see if you can manually create the same number of subdirectories on your NT system.

I had a similar error appear where I had simply used a ‘/’ rather than '' in the directory path.

Fortunately I spotted the typo and re-submitted, and all was OK.
