We have successfully implemented DAS as a service on a NT4.0 server for a client. We followed the guidelines as provided in the DAS Bible.

Were you able to write output to a file server or a web server when running Document Agent as a service?
We wer able to do this on NT 4.0 when not running as a service, but couldn’t when ran as a service.

We have it running as as service, BUT we start it under a user account, not as system. If you simply start it under the system account, you will not be able to write to a server directory (thanks to Robert Dersigni, DOW, for this tip).
