Custom maps in BO dashboards

Can anyone help us with the following?
In BO dashboards / Xcelsius, we would like to have a custom map of Belgium, divided in regions according to the sales organisation of our company and with functionality that is analogue to the standard maps in BO Dashboards. For instance:

  • The color of the regions in the map should be data driven (color depends on a a certain measure target (e.g. green, orange, red according to actual sales figures and targets).
  • The regions on the map should be clickable. On a click, underlying data of the region should be shown (e.g. in a separate dashboard component

We create the required custom map of Belgium with MAPINFO software.

Is it possible to build from this a component that is usable in BO dashboard (e.g. just like a standard BO dashboard map)? Who can help us on this? What about the evolution towards HTML5?

We know that there are 3rd party addons for doing this, but we are a bit reluctant for using these (compatibility with SAP’s upgrades of BO dashboards…)

Many thanks.
Eddy

the 3rd party map addons are useless in terms of future compatibility / html5. The stuff that is out there is old.

For now, you can achieve your result by getting separate jpg’s of your regions and circular icon components for the hover over effect. You need to find someone very visually creative to produce good results.
The learning curve is very low.

Hi,
I found a nice demo site from www.apos.com at www.aposclouddemo.com
They have some samples in regards to embedding maps in different types of reports and dashboards.
There is also an HTML5 sample, however it is for Webi.
Have fun
