Custom Format and Custom Sort are not available-Webi 4.1 SP6

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with custom sort and custom format in webi 4.1 SP 6 opendocument window.

I have a date column coming as MM/dd/yyyy i need to format it into MMM - yyyy when i right click on the respective date object and navigate into format number tab i could not see the custom option this is one issue. alternatively for this requirement i have written a formula instead of custom formatting my formula is:
=formatdate(date;“MMM yyyy”) this is working fine but the issue is when i drag this variable into a chart it is sorting alphabetically by default. when i want to custom sort it , the option is disabled the custom sort option is simply greyed out and not allowing me to select the values.

are these features not available in opendocument feature?
We are accessing BO reports via opendocument feature, we can modify and save them

Please help me how to achieve custom sort on date values

Are you using HTML viewer? If so, they’re not available. They’re only available in JRE or Rich Client versions of Webi.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply…

Mark i dont know in which mode i am viewing the reports, but i do have installed JRE on my machine.

I have attached the screenshot of the webi report , can you please let me know how to find whether i am using HTML view or not?

Thank you very much…

You haven’t attached anything

Have a look in your Preferences in Launchpad/Infoview and see what you have set up.

I’m using Rich Client (v4.1.6 P6, build 14.1.6.1933), and I can’t seem to make the custom sort work correctly.

The report was partially converted from Desktop Intelligence. The custom sort functionality worked fine in DeskI (v12.5.0.1190).

There is a section with a crosstab. I want to sort the sections in a custom order based on that section. However, I’ve removed all sorts. Then added an ascending sort for the section variable, and yet the option for custom sort is greyed out.

Desired Result Example:
Section ABC
Section XYZ
Section GHI
Section DEF

Current Results:
Section ABC
Section DEF
Section GHI
Section XYZ

Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hi Kelley,

From what I recall, it’s not possible to put a custom sort on a merged dimension in Webi. Crazy, I know.

You can but only on the master merged dimension, i.e. it wont let you custom sort an Order ID from one particular query.

The workflow of the custom sort is a little convulted, I’m unsure if the user is using the correct workflow.

Just to circle back and give an answer -

The particular report we were working with had been created many, mnay years ago. What we discovered was that happened in the Report Conversion tool process that “stuck” the first section at the top of the report.

Creating a brand-new report in WebI with the same data allowed the custom sort flexibilty we wanted.
