Curly (or Smart) Quotes vs. Straight Quotes

I discovered something about curly (or smart) quotes vs. straight quotes as it relates to posting and formatting text on this forum platform.

If I format a formula with the Blockquote (Ctrl+Shift+9) format button note that I get curly quotes which WebI does not allow…

=If [Full Date] Between (ToDate(“01/04/2020”; “dd/MM/yyyy”); ToDate(“31/03/2021”; “dd/MM/yyyy”)) Then “Tax Year 2020/2021”

If I instead format my formula with the Preformatted text (Ctrl+E) format button the straight qoutes are retained which is what WebI expects…

=If [Full Date] Between (ToDate("01/04/2020"; "dd/MM/yyyy"); ToDate("31/03/2021"; "dd/MM/yyyy")) Then "Tax Year 2020/2021"

Hope this is of help.

I’ve noticed this as well when copying from other sources where the quotes or single quotes come in as curly quotes. If I remember correctly, this applies to creating variables in Universe Designer as well.

Gotta love alternate character sets when copying. Noticed this ‘issue’ for years.
