I am trying to edit a connection in Information Design Tool (IDT) - Business Objects 4.1 SP4 and I getting the error: “Test Failed: csEX”.
This error happens on a client PC, but not from the IDT on the host server.
Could this happen because of the version of IDT installed?
Does a port need to be opened in the firewall?
Should there be any configuration on the DSL Server?
I realised that, but part of it refers to recerating the DSL Bridge APS, which may help.
In addition what ports are open in the firewall?
Also, do you get the same issue with the UDT?
In addition, check the version of Java, is it supported?
The version of JAVA on the BI Server is version 1.7 update 65. The version of JAVA on the client PC is version 1.7 update 71 (a later version).
Plus the following ports have been opened on the BI Server:
8080 Tomcat
6400 - Central Management Server (Name Server Port)
6401 - Central Management Server (Request Port)
6402 - Input File Repository Server (Request Port)
6403 Output File Repository Server (Request Port)
6405 - Web Application Container Server (HTTP Port)
6410 Server Intelligence Agent (Port)
3690 - Subversion Repository Information
All of the other BusinessObjects servers have ports being automatically assigned.
Ports look good.
As I said can you create and test a connection in the UDT, this should isolate any firewall issues?
I aslo would try downgrading the Java.
From BI 4.0 SP4 onwards SAP added a new security right for universe connections i.e. under System --> Relational Connection --> Download connection locally. This is set to “Not Specified” by default. Don’t know if you are using the same suer when logged on to the server?
Finally, are the patch levels of your BO clients the same as the server install patch level?
Can you connect from any client PCs?
