CrystalEnterprise SMTP config error; Publication/Email fails

Hi, wondering if anyone can help. We are installing XIR3 and I’m having issues with emailing out reports and job failure/success notes. I believe that I have everything set up correctly, as far as the job servers go for emailing and I think I have everything set up correctly in the publications. But I’m getting errors like the one below:

server error. [CrystalEnterprise.Smtp]: [Error initializing SMTP server. Return code: [SMTP 501 - Syntax error in parameters or arguments.]. Reason: [smtp.mycompany.com:25].]

When I run the job and send to the B.O. inbox it works fine, but when I try emailing it fails. Also…when I try to send out either a job “Success” or “Fail” message, the publication fails.

I’ve done searches on BOB and I’m not finding anything similar to this. Any help is definetly appreciated.

Can you mail a simple WebI report from schedule?

Have you replicated those settings in both the Publication Job Server and Destination Job Server?

Hi,
Have you checked if the Telnet services could send mails using default port 25 or correct SMTP sever port number ?.

commandprompt> telnet SMTPServername 25
then u should get meaasge,then say
helo hi---->press enter
mail from:abc@abc1.com–>enter
rcpt to:xyz@xyz1.com–>enter
type some text.–>enter
quit–>enter

Now verify whether u have a mail in XYZ.
