Crystal Reports Viewer and UFL

Hi,
I have a query regarding the behaviour of Reports developed in Crustal Reports XI, having some user defined function libraries (Dot net UFLs).
Around 60 reports were developed in CR XI using UFL.

Now when I select the report export format to Crystal Reports, i’m able to see the report using CR XI Designer. But the same .RPT does not open in a machine having only CR viewer and not CR Designer.
I get the error “Some formulas failed to compile”. I made sure that the required .ddl was registered in the machine.

The concern here is that majority of the users have only CR viewer installed in their machine. So it’s not feasible to purchase/ install CR designer in all of the machines.

I think the discrepancy here should be something to do with the behaviour of CR Designer and CR Viewer towards UFLs.
If anyone has come across similiar issue, please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

I think that custom “User Function Library” UFLs are registered as part of the local workstation-only.

If you want a user on a different workstation (or a BO / CR Server) to use a report with your UFLs you need to deploy the UFLs to those workstations.

It’s been a long time since I had to do it - but I remember that we had to do this for a Barcode UFL when we deployed the reports to Crystal Enterprise a few years ago.

Thanks MJRBIM.
But the UFL/ dll were deployed at the end user’s machine also.
Still it was popping the error.

Please let me know if you can recall any scenario similiar to this, from your past experiences with UFLs.

Cheers,
