Crystal Reports 2008 data set from sub report

Crystal Experts,

Is there any way to make a data set from the sub report available in the Field Explorer of the main report? We need to build a variable in the main report which conatins the entire column of data from the sub report, not just a single value.

Please help …!! Thanks in advance.

If you just need the data for a single column, you might be able to create an array that is a shared variable that gets filled in the subreport and passed back to the main report. Arrays can be difficult to work with, though.
