We have Crystal Report version 10.0.0.533. Is it possible to get data from a universe with it ?

Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0 supports universes the best.
You version, CR 2008???, might support it up to a certain point.

Version 10 cannot connect to universes I’m afraid. That functionality first came in XIR2 (After the Business Objects acquisition of Crystal) and is version 11.5xxxxx.
For reference:
Version 10 = Crystal 10
Version 11 = BO Crystal 11
Version 11.5 = BO Crystal 11.5 (Universes connections start here)
Version 12 = SAP/BO Crystal 2008
Version 14 = SAP BO Crystal 2011
Keep in mind that versions of universes must match the same version of Crystal in order for it to work; there is no backwards or forwards compatibility. So for instance, if you want to connect Crystal Reports 2008 to a universe you must have a SAP Business Objects 3.X universe/environment.
Also, until the big service pack promised later this year, the new thin client version of Crystal (SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise) can connect to the new semantic layer (.unx) only and the thick client 2011 Crystal Reports tool cannot connect to the .unx, but can to the 4.0 unv.
Does that make sense?
