Creating parallel test environment

Hey

We need tp create a parallel test environment for our current BO setup (BO SP1 + MHF1+ CHF15) on Linux.

We want to make sure that all the universes, reports (both DESKI + WEBI) and particularly security (Users & Groups) are replicated properly (we have more than 10K users).

What shall be the best approach? Using Import Wizard or synch up FRS file systems and old CMS and new CMS databases. Pls advice.

Ideally to create a test or DEV environment, the CMS and FRS can be copied over from PROD
You can as well go for the end-to-end CMS-to-CMS way using IW

We have the empty test system in place and have tried copying the data using Import Wizard but its taking ages. This is because we have large no of users/groups and equally large no of reports/folders. So how about using the copy approach wherein you copy CMS and FRS data?

We are tough not sure of exactly how the copy is to be done. Do we need to actually export data from CMS database and import it to the new system (to be setup in parallel) and similarly for FRS we copy the data directory on the unix box.

Then go for this

Your DBA should be able to do a schema copy of PROD CMS repository database.
This can then be pointed to using CCM > specify CMS datasource button
