Creating a BIAR file

I just installed EDGE 4.0 and in the BI platform client tools I do not see the import wizard.

Is it possible to create a BIAR file to use as backup with EDGE 4.0?
if not what is the best way to back up my enterprise system?

You’ll have to use LCM now I believe.

correct, use LCM tool in Cmc (promotion management) and choose to create a LCMBIAR. You can export the LCMBIAR. And import in another BO system (just like the old import wizard, but different module)

I went to install the latest version of LCM - SBOP LCM 1.0 SP6 but I get the following error

“LCM for SAP Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 SP6 can not be install as SAP Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 SP6 is not available on system”

is this becasue I’m on Enterprise 4.0?

I tried a lower service pack but when i go to install LCM on the enterprise server it does not recognize that I have EDGE installed.

LCM should be automatically installed as part 4.0 - it’s no longer a separate product. In the CMC it’s called “Promotion Management” and it’s under the “Manage” column to the right.

Is there a way to save this file created locally. It seems to save directly into the CMC.

I don’t think it’s possible with a schedule, but if you manually promote it should give you the option to tell it where to save the file and to change the file name. It will generate the file first and then bring up a Windows “Save” screen to ask where you want to save it.
