CR 2008 - Share Prompts Across Queries

Hi,

I’ve created a query based on a universe, when I select Properties from the Query Panel in the Data pane I see an option that says “Share prompts across queries”.

From my understanding and limited experience today, it seems as though Crystal Reports does not allow for multiple SQL statements to be executed from different universe contexts as Webi/Deski can.

So does this option within the Query Options allow for parameters to be passed from a prompt to multiple queries within a main report?

I understand so far that linked subreports means that for each distinct value in the main report that was defined in the link between the main and subreport, the subreport query will execute it’s SQL statement/stored proc, etc…But does this parameter eliminate the need for the linked subreport and encourage linked queries in the main report if they use similar prompts based on their prompt text?

I’m kind of a newb to Crystal  but I do know Webi and Deski very well.

Anyone?

Works as I had thought. I guess it is new functionality in 2008 that this option allows you to share a prompt value across multiple universe queries, as I was told this wasn’t possible.
