[CR 2008] PDF export, link to file not working

Hi,

When creating a link to a local or network file into a Crystal Reports 2008 document (e.g. file://\server\directory\file.doc), the link is not working when exporting the document to PDF. The mouse pointer doesn’t show a hyperlink symbol when hovering the link and nothing happens when clicking on it.

When creating a http:// link it does work in the PDF file as well as local/network links do work when exporting to Excel.

Does anyone know why linking to a local or network file doesn’t work in PDF files?

According to SAP note 1216667 it seems not to work by design.

Cause
PDF document can be viewed on any platform.
There is no cross-platform representation of file hyperlinks in PDF format.

Resolution
By design hyperlinks to files are not exported to PDF Format.
