Could not create temporary file. Startup Disk Full (FRM0006)

Hi All,

I am getting this error, could not create temporary file, your startup disk is probably ful (FRM0006). I have searced the forums and have found related topics but I did not get any resolution to my issue. So I am posting this.

My situation:
We have over 500 users all around the globe. And we are making them use Desktop Intelligence thru Citrix Server. We have dedicated 3 servers to Business Objects, where we have installed Business Objects client. Users login to company’s portal and then they are directed to one of the server via Citirix.

We are facing this strange error… Could not create temporary file, your startup disk is probably full (FRM0006) for only 2-3 users. I have tried doing whatever I can to get rid of this error.

I have tried creating their new profile all together in Citrix and in BO - did not help.
I have checked their folders on the server - did not see any difference and did not help.
I have use different computers for them - did not help.
I have deleted all the temporary files - did not help.
I changed the location of temp files using Environment Variables as mentioned in one of the forum - did not help.

I am not sure what else can I do. Please help.

Thanks in advance.

One other thing you might check.

If your computer is running an anti-spam/malware application, it is possible that this software is blocking the BusinessObjects software which will cause this error message to persist.

I checked that. My computer has only Anti Vrius. But that does not seem to be an issue; as I can login using my account, and many other accounts; but when I try those two particualar users, I get this error. I have noticed that there is some temp file starting with character ~ created under their folder on the server; which should not be created. I can say that it should not be created because, when I login as other users, this temp file is not created.

Any further clues or ideas?

Thanks again!

I seem to remember that read/write access to the root folder (like C:) is required. I found it odd, since I’ve never seen any files actually go there, but maybe it’s the failsafe if a temp directory is not available. See if the rights to the root directory are somehow different for those users.

I am not sure what is the issue. I checked the user has full access to read, write, read and execute, modify and all. I also went into the Advanced and checked, over there also the user has full access.

I dont know what is happening :hb:. Any more thoughts

I have resolved this issue. And for the informational purpose; I am posting the solution, might be useful to others.

What I did was I first try to login to the server using Users AD authentication. Then when I tried to login to DeskI, there was a failure notice - crash report. In that I saw that D:\Users"Username"\Temp has 1 KB available. I checked and realized that there is no such pathD:\Users"Username"\Temp on D Drive. So I created the path for that particular user. And the issue got resolved. But, you have to make sure that there is enough space available on D Drive as BO will create its own folder after that.

Thanks,
Bhaumik
