Corrupted Prompts

I suppose this isn’t a really serious problem, but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on why prompts sometimes get corrupted. I have some reports that I run periodically without problems, and then one day something strange happens such as the “Values” button no longer works or you get a SQL error message after submitting the query that the data entered is in an invalid format (particularly with date objects).

I can usually work around the problem by removing the condition and either building a custom condition with different text for the prompt, or running the report once with the prompt missing and then reinserting it and running again.

I’m using v. 4.1.4. Any ideas? Is there something to watch for that might prevent this?

Andrew,

I strongly recommend you upgrade from v4.1.4 asap, as this was NOT one of Business Objects’ better versions of the product.

Prompts can be corrupted when the condition/s in the original query has been has been changed (all versions of the product). However, I seem to recall there being some particularly bizarre events occurring with v4.1.4.

Sorry, but I think upgrade might improve your situation.

Regards,
Ang.
