CORBA Error on Describe

I hope someone could shed some light on this

I have recently updated a user to WEBI Rich Client 4.2 SP3. We run a 4.1 server and a universe against Oracle database with Oracle client 12_C on the user machine

When they log into WEBI to create or refresh a report, the following error is returned

The following database error occurred: (CORBA) “Error on Describe”. For information about this error, please refer to SAP Knowledge Base Article 2054721 on the SAP Support Portal. (IES 10901) (WIS 10901)

The SAP note seems to be a generic one for the IES10901 and WIS10901 error, but when I have searched on the web, these seems to be against a few CORBA errors, such as “Error on Fetch”

I cannot find anything on “Error to Describe”. Anyone come accross this before?

4.1 Server? Your user needs 4.1 client then…

We have another application that runs on a 4.1 server and the 4.2 client works fine on that

The only problem we have on that is the expected 4.2 created reports not usable by 4.1 users

As Nick specified, how 4.2 client work on 4.1 server. It will throw that type of error. Why can’t you try 4.1 client on 4.1 server

this version mismatching “may” work in certain situations but is definitely not supported nor recommended
