I am trying to configure Derby database as part of Auditing database. For the most part i am done, but at the point of configuring sbo file i am stuck.
My Environment:
IPS: 4.2 SP3
DS: 4.2 SP7
DB: Oracle 11g
Environet: Linux Red Hat 6.5
I am referring to following KBA article.
"1768678 - HOWTO - Configure Oracle Audit database for Monitoring".
Talked to SAP and they say this setup is not available for 4.2 IPS installation but can only be configured for BOE environments.
I am trying to have this setup in my IPS environment. Any idea how to go about doing it, is it as simple as creating a “jdbc” folder and get a standard oracle.sbo file and modify it to match with my environment?
Information Platform Services, its has few of the BO services like Input Output File Repository Servers, CMS, Adaptive Processing Server and EIM Adaptive Processing Server.
Primary use is for user and group creation to grant access to Data Services Repositories.
Kind of a bare minimum services similar to BOE to go along with SAP Data Services.
I checked our IPS environment and it looks like we have mostly the same options in the connectionServer folder as we do in our BOE environments. We have three more connection type folders in our IPS environment but that is most likely due to the installation options selected.
I wonder if for some reason the Oracle connectivity wasn’t installed when the IPS installation was done. Is your IPS 4.2sp3 a new install or an upgrade? You could try running the installation update and making sure Oracle was selected.
Short of that I suppose you could try copying files from a BOE environment, assuming you have access to one. I don’t know what else might be installed along with those files though.
Ours was a IPS 4.1 SP5 initial installation and subsequently upgrading to IPS 4.2 SP3. Even before the upgrade those directories were missing.
If getting the files from BOE is the only route, could you provide some insight on what files and folders are required to make this to work? Any insight on what all need to be ensured for this to work?
Do you have access to a BOE environment? I would just compare the connectionServer directories to see what Oracle stuff is in the directory in the BOE environment and then copy those to the IPS environment. At a minimum, I would assume you would need the file path to the oracle.sbo file that you want to use.
The only way that I can think of to test it is to just try it. It should either work or it won’t. We don’t a way to tell other things might required beside the files though so it just trying it is the only way I can think of.
If you have a support agreement, you could try opening a case with SAP to see if they have anything on it. I would suspect they would want you to run an installation update or a repair of some type.
