Do you happen to know any trick to allow me and another developer to work concurrently on different tabs of the same dashboard?

as far as I know, there is no such trick for more than one person to work on the same dashboard simultaneously. However, you can split the timings

You can split the excel model work and the dashboard design work, importing the excel model as required.
The only other way I could get multiple devs working on the same dashboard was to go to shifts, one day, one nightly with a handover at the end of shift.

If its a large dashboard you could consider developing it in a modular way and link the components via Flash Variables.
