Hi when i try to create a new webi report using a universe of my test server it is giving the error as
Database error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Communication link failure. Contact your Business Objects administrator or database supplier for more information. (Error: WIS 10901)
The universe is taken from my production environment and now i am builing the report in test environment as it should not effect teh prod server.but i have changed everything like i have setup the DNS names as prod server.
please let me know if i am missing something . to find a solution for the problem.
And the problem was because of the DNS names of t he connection.
Even problem with WebI report server which got stuck up after this error and throwing this error again and again. Once i restarted the servers it is working fine…!
i have check the ODBC drivers and connection and tested them everything is working fine. and the only work around was to restart the webi report server.
please let me know how to solve this problem. if the error is thrown with one report then the reports associated with the universe belong to SQL database are totally affected.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t really go into any detail about how to fix it, but I would suggest searching to see if you can find any more information.
