Combining data from different sources at universe level

I have 8 DB and 8 universes pointing to each DB, and i need to create a global report which will contain data from all the 8 sources…I can only think of these options

  1. create report using 8 data providers -> but user needs adhoc reporting and creating so many data providers is not possible for the user

  2. Create materialised views at the DB and then develop a ‘Global’ universe that will contain data from all sources -> from here user can pull the desired objects but i believe it will create performance issues.

Is there anything else, any solution to this problem…user doesnot want standard reports…Your help is much appreciated

Why user can’t create multi dataprovider report.

How big is each universe/database?

If you are looking at combining them, why aren’t they all in the same place?

Mark, business has not maintained its stuff properly. I adviced for datamart too but some clients are adamant : ) , so i was trying to find some other way out.

I think your best advice to them is to push for a data mart. :slight_smile:

I appreciate that they may be adamant, but if you explain about performance gains, ease of reporting, etc., they may see your point of view.
